Date of the trip: beginning of May 2025
With Bali only being a short three-hour flight from Perth, you know I had to go back. This time I went back with a group of girlfriends from the group of exchange students that had come study in Australia for the semester. In this week's blog post, I'll go through some of the highlights of the trip and the little spots that I still dream about!

Our Villa, located in Seminyak was our little piece of heaven for the few days that we spent there. It had a private pool (almost a must-have in Bali for some late-night splashes) and the beds were huge and could fit three people comfortably! It was a great space to share with the girls and changed from the hotel experience! Both are great, but a Villa is definitely more suited for bigger groups (I could totally see a retreat here, yia yia)!
Ling Ling's

Let me tell you about a place in Bali that does specials like no other — Ling Ling’s. This spot was an instant favorite with all the girls, and for good reason.
Ling Ling’s is all about small plates designed to share, a fun and lively atmosphere, and what they call their famous “Funky Friday” deals. Picture this: half-off cocktails, delicious bites to pass around the table, and all of this in a very well-decorated space.
But let me tell you the story of my personal moment at Ling Ling’s — the night I tried (and failed) to prove a point.
If you’ve spent any time scrolling through social media lately, you’ve probably seen the whole debate between Type Aand Type B personalities. For a quick refresher:
Type A’s are the planners — the ones who pack their suitcase days in advance, check their passport five times before heading to the airport, and arrive way too early for flights.
Type B’s are more easygoing — the “go with the flow” types who might throw clothes in a bag an hour before departure and just trust everything will work out.
Now, I like to think I’m a Type A in many ways (okay, most ways), but for this trip, I was determined to channel my innerType B. I wanted to prove to myself that I could loosen up, relax, and just go with the flow. So, when my friend asked if it was okay to mix wasabi into the soy sauce at dinner — something I never do — I just nodded. Sure, I thought, let’s be chill.
Fast forward to the moment I took my first bite of sushi, and I felt the wasabi heat rush straight through my nose like a freight train. My eyes watered instantly, my face turned red, and I whipped my head toward my friend with tears streaming down my cheeks. Between coughs, I blurted out, “But I swear I’m Type B!” The group's inside joke at this point.
Safe to say, my attempt at being a cool, easygoing Type B completely backfired. Lesson learned: sometimes, you’ve just got to be who you are — even if that means being the one who keeps the wasabi far, far away from the soy sauce.
Ling Ling’s was such a fun spot, and I’ll be back (maybe just skipping the wasabi next time).
Next up, we dove into one of the most memorable parts of our trip: the Balinese cooking class. This wasn’t just any cooking class — it was a full-on experience that immersed us in the heart of Bali’s rich culinary traditions. From exploring a local market for fresh ingredients to learning about the spices and herbs that give Balinese food its bold, vibrant flavors, it was an adventure in every sense of the word.
And yes, I finally learned how to make Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng — two of my absolute favorite Balinese dishes. There’s something so satisfying about learning about how to make a dish you love, especially in the very place where it originated.
I can't wait to try to recreate some of the dishes when I get back home!

If you couldn't tell, Bali's a great place for a foodie like me :) One of the restaurants you have to try in Seminyak is Fu House. Inspired from Thai cuisine with a modern kick to it, this restaurant is the place to be! This cauliflower was rich, perfectly crispy, and bold in flavor. Another dish I'm going to try to make back at home one of these days!

Our last day in Bali...

Our last day in Bali was also one of my favorites. Before heading to the airport, we decided to take a drive down to Nusa Dua. It was such a different vibe from the other parts of Bali I’d seen before — way quieter, less crowded, and with beautiful beaches that felt almost untouched compared to the busier areas like Seminyak or Canggu.
While we were there, we stumbled upon a gorgeous beach club, named Manarai, where we relaxed for a while, soaking in the views and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Honestly, if it hadn’t started raining, I would have loved to explore more of the area — there’s so much sightseeing to do around Nusa Dua. But with limited time before our flight, we had to cut it short and save the rest for next time. Definitely adding it to the list for my next Bali adventure!

Bali was an absolute dream, and every moment with the girls made it even more special. From beach days to food adventures and everything in between, it’s safe to say this trip will stay with me for a long time. I’m already thinking about my next adventure — and there’s still so much more of Asia I want to explore! Until next time, Bali. 🌸✈️
